Beginning December 1, 2024, the City contracted with Northern Illinois Disposal for residential curbside garbage and recycling collection. Oregon Service Agreement with Northern Illinois Disposal – 2024
Garbage
Garbage is picked up weekly (brown cart lid). Service is provided to areas north of Rt 64 on Mondays and South of Rt 64 on Tuesdays, with some exceptions. See map.
Recycling
Recycling is picked up every other week (yellow cart lid) on the same day as garbage pick up. See schedule. Recyclable service is unlimited.
Bulk Items
Residents may place two (2) bulk items out for collection on the regularly scheduled collection date for solid waste pick up; provided however, that such bulk items are placed adjacent to the container and do not weigh in excess of fifty (50) pounds each. For heavier bulk items, contact Northern Illinois directly: 1-800-930-7321.
Yard Waste
Northern Illinois will collect yard waste from residences April 1st through November 30th. Collection will be every other week, opposite of recycling weeks. See yard waste collection guidelines. Schedule.
City and County Services
Brush
Residential yard waste that is larger than guideline for yard waste (branches larger than one (1) inch in diameter) may be eligible for monthly brush pick up by the City of Oregon. See collection guidelines.
Electronics Recycling / Household Hazardous Waste
Ogle County Solid Waste Management offers events for recycling electronics, disposing of hazardous waste, paper shredding, etc.
