26th Annual Holiday Gift Sale – Jarrett Prairie Center

Stop by the Jarrett Prairie Center near Byron, Illinois for their annual holiday gift sale.  With over 30 crafters and vendors, there’s a wide variety of unique crafts such as quilts, clothing, jewelry, candles, flower arrangements, ceramics, decorations, baskets, birdhouses, furniture, and much more! Hike The Trails at Castle Rock State Park!

Ogle County’s State Parks..

Too often overlooked, except by those who have discovered the bounty of Ogle County.

         November is an exciting month for sportsman. Waterfowl hunting runs throughout the month of November with the first two firearm deer seasons opening this month as well.  The first firearm deer hunting season begins November 17th and runs until November 19th of 2017. The second season begins November 30th and runs until December 3rd.

The Oregon area has three state parks open for public deer hunting. Lowden-Miller, Castle Rock, and White Pines.  All offer unique views of Ogle County and wide variety of terrain for hunters.   1,794 Deer where Harvested in Ogle County last year. That is more than either Lee or Winnebago County.  check here for more information about the resources in our three state parks.

 

Oregon Together Movie Night Presents Polar Express!

November 18, 2017 Doors open at 6:30 pm, Movie Starts at 7 pm, Oregon Coliseum

 

Oregon Together, The Gathering Place, and Oregon Elementary (OES) present another free movie night at the Coliseum! Doors open at 6:30, with the movie starting at 7:00. Chairs are available, but you might want to bring blankets and pillows for a front row seat! Concessions will be available for purchase.

Thanks to The Gathering Place for sponsoring the movie and Hopper’s Poppers for providing movie equipment and concessions!

Admission is free. Concessions will be available for purchase and voluntary donations are accepted to help support future movie nights. Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Children age 10 and under must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. Chairs are available.

 

 

Gingerbread Workshop

The Oregon Park District is combining forces with Candlelight Walk 2017! Join them to decorate our reassembled gingerbread houses. Registration includes 1 kit with house, frostings and candies. Also included at the event will be a full candy bar to add extra goodies to your masterpiece.  1 registration=1 house kit.  This event will be located at Freedom Lutheran Uptown Oregon. The deadline to register with the Oregon Park District is November 18.

 

 

 

 

The 31st Annual Candlelight Walk

November 25th, 2017 3pm – 8pm, Downtown Oregon

“A Small Town Christmas in Oregon Illinois” Join us in for an evening of old-fashioned holiday fun! Enjoy horse drawn rides, live reindeer; visit with Santa, holiday shopping, Candy Cane Lane, refreshments, live entertainment, Holiday Gift Fair and Winter Carnival at the Coliseum. Visit the Nash Rec Center for family fun. Don’t forget to visit Conover Square Mall – a unique village of specialty shops!

The Shops at Conover

Enjoy indoor warmth and comfort as you shop the area’s largest indoor collection of merchants.   You won’t find familiar chain stores and a hectic pace in Conover Square, a repurposed piano factory.    What you will find is an eclectic mix of over 30 merchants selling a wide range of classic antiques, vintage items and

repurposed items; as well as salons, café, boutiques, and restaurants.  There is also 8,000 sq. ft. consignment space on the second floor.  Built in 1893, the building is overflowing with history. Brick arches adorn the hallways and the halls are lined with pianos and other memorabilia from the past.   All shops will be open with special activities and extended hours during Candlelight Walk Festival held Saturday, November 25th.

 

Model train exhibit open every weekend on Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday from 1-4.
