Franklin Creek State Natural Area

A short 15 mile drive south from Oregon on country roads is the Franklin Creek State Natural Area, one mile northwest of the village of Franklin Grove. The beautiful Franklin Creek flows throughout the 664-acre park. It has several large natural springs, including the largest in northern Illinois. There are hardwood forests, bedrock outcroppings, and a large variety of flora and fauna comprise a pristine ecosystem. Franklin Creek also had an operational water-wheel grist unique to the area. There are also 12 miles of equestrian trails available for use.
