Short-Term Rentals

Short-term rentals are allowed under R-1 zoning as a special use with a Short-Term Rental permit. These are rentals of fewer than 30 days and include Airbnb, Vrbo, Homestay, vacation rentals, tourist homes, etc.  Municipal Code 6.41

To apply, submit a completed permit application and required fee to the City Clerk.

After approval by the Planning Commission, the application will go before the City Council for final approval.

Requirements for short-term rentals in the City of Oregon

  • Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors as stated in the city code
  • At least one bathroom for every four adult guests
  • Liability insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence
  • Display of license within the short-term rental property
  • Tax compliance- including 3% tax paid to Ogle County which supports the regional tourism fund
  • Annual license renewal due June 1st each year
