69th Annual Grand Detour Arts Festival

Presented by the Grand Detour Arts Festival Committee in partnership with The Next Picture Show, this juried Art Festival is sure to have a piece you connect with. The entire family is welcome to come out and enjoy one of the oldest art festivals in Illinois, set on the Historic John Deere site at 8334 S Clinton St., Dixon, Illinois. The arts fest offers live music, food vendors, artist painting demonstrations, blacksmith demonstrations, historic site tours, and student art show.

Autumn on the Prairie
Saturday, September 16, 2017 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Nachusa Grasslands
Come on down to the prairie to enjoy this annual event open to the public. Put on your sunscreen to prepare for guided walking or riding tours with experienced guides leading tours of Nachusa’s bison, prairies, woodlands, and wetlands. And the fun doesn’t end there! Munch on Kettlecorn while you experience the rest of the festivities, such as learning Native American skills, enjoying live music, and so much more! Encore! Mt. Morris Presents Jam Fest 2017

Calling All Pickers and Strummers! You are invited to join fellow musicians and music lovers for the launch of Jam Fest 2017. The day features acoustic string band music as groups and individuals connect organically for impromptu performances. A kids play area, complete with a bounce house and games will be available on the campus for the smaller set of music and grilled cheese lovers.
The “Cheese and Jam Slam” is a culinary competition that takes a childhood comfort food to a whole new height. Sample each gourmet grilled cheese and see if your favorite agrees with the judges’ decision. Better yet, grab your friends and create your own “not-your-mama’s grilled cheese” entry! Of course, every recipe must include jam!
The Discover Market will showcase Ogle County artisan baked goods, berry treats, coffees, and many other locally made products. Jam Fest is a laid back harmony of string music, simple food, beautiful art, support of local artisans, and good old-fashioned family fun. You are invited to join the celebration!

TOSOC Bike Ride for All Ages
September 23rd, 2017 pre-register online or onsite at 7:30 at Village of Progress at 710 South 13th Street, Oregon, Illinois
Join us for our annual Tour of Scenic Ogle County (TOSOC).
Enjoy quiet and paved country roads with mostly rolling hills and some flat stretches. Be prepared to take in the stunning scenery, including possible wildlife sightings of eagles, red-tailed hawks, great blue herons, and bison. Multiple rest stops and sag support provided.
Choose from three different rides:
- 32 Mile Route: Includes John Deere Historic Site, Rock River at Grand Detour, Nachusa Grasslands (bison herds)
- 62 Mile Route: Includes above trail plus historic Mt. Morris and riverside riding along Rock River.
- 10 Mile Route: Family Fun Ride through Park West & Fairgrounds Park. This is an easy ride suitable for 3 wheelers & kids (child riders under 18 must be accompanied by adult)
Lunch is included with registration. Additionally, ride refreshments, including delicious baked goods and fresh fruit will be available at rest stops.
