Did you know July is National Anti-boredom month? And it’s easy to celebrate in Oregon! Little more than an hour’s drive from the Western Suburbs and 45 minutes from Rockford.

Let Freedom Ring Festival and Fireworks

June 28th – July 4th, 2017            Downtown Mt. Morris, Illinois

 

 

Thousands of folks come from all over to watch the best fireworks display in the county backed up by Souza Music performed by the community band.  But that’s only the beginning of what this five day festival has to offer.   From the Parade, Community Women’s Ice Cream Social,  live music, and the kiddie water fights; you will find something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Rock River Ukulele Tube Float

Sunday, July 2 at 1 PM – 5 PM       White Pelican, Inc.   201 N 3rd Suite 25, Oregon, Illinois 61061

And now, for something completely different!

 Tune up your waterproof ukulele, grab your tube or canoe, and join us as we strum and float down the beautiful Rock River from Oregon to Castle Rock State Park. The “Great Rock River Ukulele Float” departs on Sunday, July 2nd at 1pm from White Pelican (201 N 3rd St) behind Conover Square Mall.   Cost for the event is $5 per person and “Water-Friendly” Ukuleles are available for purchase (in advance) at a special event price of $50.00 (tax & bag included).   Tube rental is available for an additional cost of $15 per tube. Canoes are also available for a cost of $40. You are welcome to bring your own ukulele, tube or canoe and “Non-Strummers” are welcome too, just pay the $5 participant fee.   Click for additional information here.

Visiting town and looking for a way to relax and let the kiddos burn some energy at the same time? Come enjoy the Nash Pool. During the times listed above, all areas of the pool are open for use including our diving board and basketball hoop. Pool toys are allowed in the pool at the discretion of the aquatic staff.
