The City of Oregon is the government seat of Ogle County, located in northern Illinois’ scenic Rock River Valley. The Rock River runs along much of the city’s eastern border, and there are 3 state parks within 15 miles, providing a majestic backdrop that makes Oregon one of the most gorgeous areas in the state. Join the 40,000 people who visit us during our annual “Autumn on Parade,” and you’ll see for yourself just how beautiful this area is!

Oregon is situated at the crossroads of two Illinois highways — Routes 2 and 64 — which intersect in the heart of the downtown commercial district. We also have easy access to two U.S. interstates — I-39 and I- 88 (the Chicago–Quad Cities Expressway). Being so centrally located means we can reach Rockford in 30 minutes, and the Quad Cities and Chicago in 90 minutes, all of which connect us to the vital economic engines in the state. We are part of the Rochelle micropolitan statistical area, which is part of the larger Rochelle-Freeport-Rockford combined statistical area. There are nearly half a million people within a 30-mile radius of Oregon, and nearly 2 million people within 60 miles.
