MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to maintain peace and public order by providing high quality police services that are responsive to the needs of the community, we protect life and property by apprehending those who commit criminal acts, by developing partnerships to prevent, reduce, or eliminate neighborhood problems, and by providing police services that are fair, professional, and respectful of the dignity of all individuals.

About Chief Brooks

Joe Brooks was appointed Chief of Police on 9/27/2022. Chief Brooks has been with the Oregon Police Department since 2002, after serving for one year with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department. Chief Brooks rose through the ranks of the Oregon Police Department, from Corporal to Sergeant to Lieutenant. Chief Brooks graduated from Winnebago High School in 1998.

Chief’s Message

It is my mission as the Chief of Police for the City of Oregon to safeguard the lives and property of the people and city I serve; to reduce the incidence of crime, to instill a sense of security and confidence, and to enhance the quality of life for all residents by ensuring the public’s safety within the City of Oregon. I pledge, as your Chief of Police and on behalf of all officers of the Oregon Police Department, that we will serve with honor and integrity and meet the highest standard of ethical conduct to maintain public trust and confidence.
